At the beginning of 2007 Barclays Bank decided to enter the Italian retail market choosing Studio & Partners as consultants to develop the whole operation. The first phase consisted of the analysis and the familiarisation of the specific characteristics of the Italian banking sector, in order to adapt Barclays existing Corporated Identity to the Italian market.

In the implementation phase190 branches were realised in three years. The operating model had to be managed by a staff team of 3/5 operators and each branch hada surface of between 70 and 150 m2 not including the back of the office. Time and cost were central to the project. Everything revolved around the realization of a prototype branch and an operating manual (to guarantee quality in each phase). The objective was to make Barclays capable of independently creating other branches in Italy.
